Default King Arthur Merlin

Has anyone used a King Arthur Merlin? How would it work to carve spirit faces on logs 4 to 8 inches in diameter? Their ad says it's for small projects.
What do they consider small? What about safety issues? That chainsaw loop looks like it could be nasty! Any kick-back to be concerned about?

Why am I doing this at 2:00 a.m.? Caffine after 5 p.m.

I have two of them use one until it gets hot and switch. No I dont think the chainsaw disc is dangerous. The tools are just a little under power but they are light and versatile.

The King Arthur Merlin is a great tool, but I found it does not stand up to prolonged use. it will heat up alot when run continuously for long periods of time. I must admit I work on large projects, 3-6 ft. x 24 in diameter. I use the Lancelot on an angle grinder for roughing out my projects and this works very well. I think that any power tool has the potential for injury. I do not think that the Merlin has any more or less inheirent risk. I may not be the best source for advice as I only use power tools for roughing out projects. I do 90% of my work with mallet and gouges.

have you ever thought of getting a chinsaw with a carving
bar there safer then the chainsaw discs that go on an angle grinder and the tip is smaller then the merlin (or same size depending on brand of bar) and there verry handy you can use them to block out carvings too big for a
bandsaw im a chainsaw/power carver so im a big fan of the chainsaw and its amazing what some people can do with just a chainsaw

just my 2 cents john
