Default Inexpensive rotary tool

Here is a link to a cheap rotary tool if you are wanting to give power carving a try. Only $50 gets you a 1/4hp, 15,000rpm flex shaft tool with a foot pedal speed control, a chuck-style handpiece and a couple of extra brushes. It is from Harbor Freight and is made by Chicago Tools. Definitely not a Foredom or MasterCarver, but works ok and I have used it for several months now. It uses a standard connection, so I just recently bought a Foredom 44T handpiece (the chuck it comes with won't take 1/4" burs) and the Wecheer reciprocating handpiece and both fit the connector. Harbor Freight also has a reciprocating handpiece with blades for $20. It seems to get a little warm at higher speeds, but have not used it that much with the new handpieces to see if that still occurs. Definitely affordable, and when I get ready to invest in something bigger/better, I'll have all the handpieces.

Looks like a good deal Mike ! I use my Rotozip with a foot pedal, flex shaft and Kutzall burrs. I hang it on a pipe clamp with a heavy duty wire as the hook. I don't use it that often (mostly hand tools), but when I do it works great.
