Default Gun Stock Carving

Well I have done quite a few projects so far and I have to say.... I really like the Turbo Carver! It spins fast enough to cut hard woods like butter but doesn't have enough torque to cause the tool to jump or jerk if it gets in a bind.

This is the first Rifle Stock that I have done.

It is a Ruger 10-22 Walnut Stock. It took about 25 Hours to complete.
I was excited to get to job finished but only because I wanted to see how it was going to turn out... I really enjoyed the work! Can't wait for my next one!

Wow! Excellent first project. They're just going to get better. Where did you get the pattern.

Thanks!
I got the butt& pistol grip patterns from just browsing around on the net... I got a poor copy after I resized it so I basically had to redraw them by hand and then print them on transparency film. I couldn't find a pattern for the fore grip that I liked so I just drew it myself.
I got the basket weave pattern from Joe Cummings.

I just made a deal with a local coffin/casket builder that made pine and cedar "Cowboy Coffins". He want me to make 12x20 memorial plaques that can be attached to the top and presented as a keepsake to the families... He offered me $350 each and expects to need about 200 a year!
Not sure how this is going to work out because I already have another business to run but the money looks really nice for sideline work!

When are you hanging your shingle. Very nice carving. Gun stocks are hard to do.

You have done a remarkable job on that gunstock, especially as a "first". Any one would be proud to own that one.
