Thinking Susie may get a chuckle out of my rotary tool stand I took a few pictures. I had a number of pipe clamps sitting idle so decided to make then useful. I picked up a ‘T’, a couple of nipples, coupler and end caps that would help keep my bird feeder hooks from sliding off . If I want a different height for the tools I change to a different length hook. Not classy but works and the unit is very robust. As old Clint would say, ‘adapt and improvise’.

In the last picture is my workstation, in a cluttered shop which my cat pals love, surrounded by pipe clamps that I attach my lamps to which are a big help to these, shall I say, more mature eyes.

P.S. After watching Frank Russell's DVD set I've add a side lamp that I can use to cast shadows now too.

LOL..... great work space, Patrick. That looks like it will work just fine for you. You might also check with your hospitals in the area to see if there are any old surplus IV stands. They come with hooks for 2 or 4 IV bags. I lucked into a "4 bagger" and it's great. It's adjustable for height and it's on wheels so that if I need just one shaft tool to be longer or shorter but don't want to mess with raising or lowering the top of the stand, I can just roll it closer or farther from me to adjust the shaft length. But what you did is great and as long as it works for you without a hassle, then you are all set.

Susie, it's a thanks to you that you got my old gray matter going on making sure the rotary would hang straight when not in use. Thanks too on the IV stand. I may have an insider on that one.

My carving set up is still not complete due to the lack of a dust collection system. I have my tool stored temporarily on the stand in the pic. Is this ok?? I thought I read that as long as the radius is 4 inches or more you are fine?

in your photo, it looks like the radius is quite large.....good. I thought my directions said to not put any tighter curve in it than a 10 inch radius....although part of that caution was for running the shaft at that tight a curve. I think your set up is fine. Hanging straight is the best though.
It's not so much the shaft itself, but that rubber shaft cover, that has a "memory" and if coiled up and stuck in a drawer or something similar, will retain bends and curves.

Thanks for the response Susieq! I read this outside of this forum and I believe I saw it on the bonus section of the Frank Russell DVDs. I am trying to locate a RAZAIRE 530 DUST COLLECTOR somewhere local, but am striking out. I will probably have to buy it online. I also need a nice bench and am trying to find a used old table or something....

If you happen to be near Provo, UT the Treeline Co. carries the Razaire dust collector. It does look like a good one. They have a vid on-line that shows it in operation.
