Default Foredom 5200, 5240, or 5400 kit?

I am not sure which one to get. Reversible vs Torque?

Which will I get the most long term use out of with fewer regrets. Any feedback would be appreciated.

This would be my second power carver. My first is an arbortech chisel. Loud, vibrating, heavy, but efficient.

I can see that this question has been asked in one form or another 100 times. It took me a while, but I have figured out the main difference: Reversible vs Torque, SR one handpiece or two. Still the reversible vs Torque seems to be a vague area with foredom owners. So perhaps that should have been the only question. Sorry for the redundancy.

I have the Foredom TX motor. It's the same I use in my carving class. The instructor has the SR and other motors there and really... I haven't used the reversible yet (except seeing someone almost blow up a motor when thinking they're turning it off!!). I have noticed when not using the TX and doing any kind of roughing out, I have to relax on the pressure I apply or else it boggs down the motor. With the TX that's not been an issue.

I have two hand pieces, #44 larger handpiece and the (I think... can't remember right now while I'm at work) 25-A smaller handpiece.

Yes, one must be careful with the direc tion switch. But it sure is nice to be able to direct the dust away from yourself. Mine has never bogged on me in either mode, but I don't really force it either.
