Default flexcut reciprocating handpiece

I really need another tool- not!!!!
It's from Flexcut.
But, I had around 30 reward bucks on my card, so what the heck, it's tool time again!
Don't know if anyone has tried this yet, and I hope it's not a piece of poop, but after my rewards, it was only $20.
So, I will test it out for everyone and let you know how it works, once it gets here! I mean, somebody has to test this stuff out and it may as well be me!

Hi Sharon, I one from Mastercarver a couple of years ago and looks about the same. I tried to use it with my Dremel and that wasn't enough power. I didn't like at first till I used it with my Mastercarver Flex shaft, which has plenty of power, for the Walnut Handle on my Eagle Cane. Boy what a joy, it went right thru that Walnut. I think you will like it. Merle

Sharon,

Be careful of running the motor too fast. Most reciprocating handpieces will start to overheat badly at RPMs above 5000 or so. Also don't expect much from the gouges that come with it. They look just like the ones that came with my mastercarver. After a LOT of re-sharpening and honing they cut OK, but the edges dull quickly. The Flexcut RG series gouges on the other hand are fantastic! They will zip right through anything I put them into!

L.P.

I have tried one that belonged to a friend, I ordered one a few weeks later. I have limited experience with it, since I left it at our place in New Mexico. It made things so much easier when working hardwoods that I was afraid I would spend to much time using it instead of getting my work done.

Hi Merle.
My dad got me a Wecheer one that attached to my regular Dremel. I like it, but it got hot quick. I didn't know or possibly didn't read the instructions to know that I was supposed to keep the rpm's low.
I'm really looking forward to see how this does with my Mastercarver.

Hi L.P.
You are the one that taught me to keep the rpm's lower. Thanks!!!!
I'm going to put a block of wood under the foot control to keep my lead foot from pressing down to far.
I have some of the flexcut gouges my dad got me and they are so much better than the ones that came with other reciprocating units I've had.
Hopefully it will get here this week!

Well I got it today! The Amazon ad said "flexcut", but it's a Wecheer, but that's alright.

Hi Sharon,

I would be interetsed in knowing if you will be able to carve on smaller carvings with your new Wecheer. I have arthritis and am having trouble with hand tools if I carve for more than an hour or more.

Thanks
Gary

Gary, I will let you know.
I haven't been able to try it out yet. Hopefully this weekend.
I have one that goes on a regular size dremel. It doesn't make my hand hurt, but my hand would go numb once in a while. But, I get numb tingly hands when my neck is out. So whether it was caused from the one for my dremel or my neck being out, hard to say because my neck gets out quite a bit. When that happens, it doesn't matter what tool I'm using, be it hand or power tool.
