Default Flexcut chisels

When I bought my Wecheer carver I also bought a set of 14 Flexcut chisels
first of all ,you know how often one uses all chisels, and I have not done much work the last year ,2 of those have really nicks on the cutting edge.
Is this poor material or why would this happen?
Thanks for your "always" help
Alice

Hi Alice, The problem could have been the way they were stored, maybe got banged together some how. Are they the set in the vynil bag? I have a set like that that i have used pretty hard and rough for 3 yrs. and had no trouble because a carver friend in Arizona told me that if I was going to keep them in that bag that folded up to put a peice of leather between the two halves before I folded it or i would have some nicks in the cutting edge, he must have been right cause I have had no trouble with them. Hope that helps
Al

Maybe the wood was too hard? I found when I first got some flexcuts that working on an orca (hard wood) it dinged the heck out of a gouge...they are great for basswood, not sure about hard wood...think you need a more shallow bevel?

Good suggestion Al. That was the same advice that I got when I started carving. I use craft foam and make an individual sheath for each blade, writing the blade nomenclature on the outside of the sheath.
