Hello everybody. Can somebody please tell me the replacement fuse size needed for the Foredom table top controller EM-1? I didn't come up with anything while searching. Thank you for your help in advance. Paul

First question: do you know why the fuse blew in the first place? Second, what Amperage can the motor draw at full power? If all they show is watts, Watts/Voltage (117VAC) = amps The inrush current to start a common design electric motor is about 2X the operating current, most fuses can take that short load for the time needed. So: suppose you discover that you need 400Watts maximum. I'd select a 5A fuse and carve on. Buy two fuses, then #1 will never blow. |

Hello Robson Valley. Thank you for the information. Yes I know why it blew. I got a little aggressive with a large roughing tool. I had this blown fuse in my wife's car so when we got to a radio shack I could replace it. When we were in that area today I couldn't find the fuse. Oh well. I could have sworn that the fuse was like .10? I know it seemed kind of small. The wire itself inside the bulb was very thin. That's what I get for not writing it down somewhere. I will try your suggestion. Thanks again and best regards. Paul |

From the Foredom website the EM-1 takes a 1.5 amp fuse. I found it in the document downloads. Hope that helps .http://www.foredom.net/PartsLists/Co...EM_EMX_EMG.pdf Have A Great Day Terry Last edited by ka0fan; 09-10-2011 at 09:48 PM. Reason: Add Addy |

I had to learn this stuff for my Harman P38+ wood pellet stove which heats my house in the winter. Three motors, combined draw was something like 450 watts. If you do extreme yoga, upside down and backwards with a mirror, you can find the fuse on the PC board. Circuit schematic showed a 5A fuse. The ninnies at the factory installed a 3A fuse which eventually could not sustain the load.

Check at Radio Shack or other electronics supply for "slow blow" fuses. They are designed to absorb those nasty start up loads and short over draughts. Slow-blow fuses - Fuses - RadioShack.com Al |

20 below, nighttime, blizzard +BIG N wind. Nearest RS more than 2 hrs away on a summer afternoon. Used the oil furnace for backup for the rest of that night. Bought a 5-pack the next morning to make certain that the 5A fuse I installed would never blow.
