Hi Mischief,
Dremel does make foot pedals. You can probably find them on their website.
But any foot pedal that you can plug your unit into and then plug the pedal cord into your outlet, will do. For sanding purposes, a variable speed pedal would probably be best. You can control the speed with your foot. As with many of my tools, I do find them at yardsales all the time too.

And I remember you saying something about moving the carving operation into your bedroom....... no power carving/sanding in the house. I am sure you didn't intend to do that anyhow, but for anyone else out there reading this.....absolutely no power carving/sanding in your home. In the garage or on the back porch or what ever you have available outside your living quarters. Wood dust is dangerous to breath. No dust collecter gets it all. Please be safe.

=( there goes the dremel. I was planning to do it in the bathroom lol. Well, as with all my "dream" purchases, I start out wanting to drill a hole and think I need a hand drill and it takes on a life of its own and I start think I need a motorized drill and why not sanding as well, so a dremel to a foredom to a mastercarver and ...lol This morning I am back down to earth. Back to a manual handrill ( coz all of this started with me needing to make a hole in the carving for a dovel to connect some pieces a carving and me being lazy to sit in the bathroom sanding my carving manually)

Your comments help make me feel better. Yup. No power carving indoors, in a wall to wall carpet apartment at that!! With baby coming at that!! With a husband that is allergic to half the elements in the world at that!. I dont need a power carver!! ( but sure looks like I WANT one!!)

Off to work I go.
Cass

Working is just my distraction from carving.

Ahhhhh, Life was so much simpler with just a knife. No cell phones, you didn't have to spend a month learning how to turn on your stereo, entrances to businesses were always on the right exits on the left and of course (as I sit here) no computers. Some new things are nice buuutt..........some are not so.

I feel for you Mischief living in an apt having been there done that.

Oh! heck, I missed the part where you said you live in an apartment.....yep, the little back porch area (weather permitting) would have to be the designated spot for any power carving..... Well, it will still be there if you ever decide you can finally do it. No rush. You will have your hands full shortly with the new baby anyhow and won't even have time to think about the other stuff for a while.

Back burner for now.

Bob, you are right... not everything new is good. But I probably would have to give up carving if not for power. My arthritis is getting worse by the day and before long, I would not be able to use a knife like I used to. And without computers, none of us on here would ever have met.....how sad would that be?
