| | Re: Branson Power Carving Today was the last day of the conference and we all packed up at 4 PM. The dates for next years conference have been set. Uh, I don't remember them but they should be posted soon on the Ozark Woodcarvers club site.
I took a few more pictures today but won't get them posted until tomorrow. The weather went to the south of us into Arkansas but completly missed Branson.
I finished 2 projects. Well, almost fininshed. I didn't get the woodburning part done on either project. Will finish that when I get home.
If anyone is considering whether to come to this next year I would say to get started saving money. Its a pretty good time. Silver Dollar City could use a bit of help on the organizing end of things but all-in-all it goes pretty smooth. They have some first class instructors and everyone brings some very nice projects. The classes fill up fast so get your name in. There are plenty of motels in the $45 and up range. Billy Gails Cafe serves a monster breakfast.
I'll get the last few pictures posted tomorrow. CU, Steve |

| | Re: Branson Power Carving Steve has been doing an excellent job of reporting on the Spring Seminar. I have only a couple of things that I might add. Steve made a pretty accurate guess on attendance, it was just under 300. This did put us down about 60 from last year and off almost a hundred from our peak a few years ago. The second thing is next year's dates: March 2-6 with the "Kickoff dinner" on March 1st.
We did dodge a couple of weather bullets this week. Snow threatened to stop classes on two separate days. The first snow dropped a little south of Branson and about 6 inches just north of the City. Then today, the last day, Branson did not see a single flake. I live in Arkansas just south of the border and had to drive through 6" of wet snow to get to the Seminar. It was amazing.....just south of the AR/MO border the snow suddenly stopped. It was as if a long straight line was drawn across the countryside.
As Steve has reported, it is a great experience to carve and socialize with so many woodcarvers.
I am attaching a photo of the peregrine falcon that I am carving. |

| | Re: Branson Power Carving well heck. I am new to this board and havent checked it much yet. Wish I had sooner cause I would have come up from Berryville/Eureka Springs to see what was going on at least. Paul, seems like I have seen you around. I have kicked around the idea of a show hear in Eureka. I think they have something but haven't had time yet to check on it.
If you ever read the papers hear I began the Patriots Herald newspaper hear but now am out of it and have time for myself again. I am about ready to purchase the Terrco F200PC duplicator to make rough outs and sell. Anyhow I am looking forward to getting to know Ozark carvers.

| | Re: Branson Power Carving Gene, I will try and put a few more works-in-progress photos up before I finish and will certainly put up the final product. Al, you should consider joining the Ozark Mountain Woodcarvers Club at Kimberling City, MO. Don’t know where you live in relation to Eureka Springs; but if you go north to Hwy 86 and over to hwy 13, it’s not all that far. We meet at the Senior Center which is just beyond the bridge over Table Rock Lake. I live down in the other end of Carroll County near Dog Branch and Osage. Eureka Springs has a carving show in the fall. I believe it is in conjunction with something else. Anyway, I was over there several years ago and found that there were only a few carvers. They need lots of help so maybe you can be of assistance to them. I am looking forward to meeting you. |

| | Re: Branson Power Carving Steve, man that looks like a great time. My wife makes a pilmagrage to Branson every fall. Maybe I need to go from now on. Anything going on carving wise in the fall? on these shows. I saw folks like Harold Enlow, Gerald Sears etc. in the photos. Were they teaching a class or just there to carve? Wow, this would be cool!

Corey | The "name brand" folks that you saw in the pictures were there teaching classes and selling rough-outs.
There are 2 more carving events coming up in Branson that I know of. One in the spring and another in the fall. The spring one is filling up fast. http://www.woodcarvingrendezvous.com/
I've got a few more pictures I meant to post today but got caught up in catching up. Will do my darndest to get them up tomorrow.
