Great thread...in the toilet or not! My Dremel is on its last leg, of its 3rd set of brushes. Mine would always die and I could never adjust the RPM's past the first 3 clicks...uuuuuuugh. They take forever on Maple! I actually threw my first one away, much to my father-in-laws chagrin! "Keoma! Noone throws a tool AWAY!!!" When my second one crapped out I took it to him first no more *** chewin's for me! He showed me how to replace my brushes. Good as new! Look in the package your Dremel came in...you'll see an extra set!!! For newer carvers...they do not look like "brushes" They are little squares! (((Ahem...I was looking for little, tiny brushes, so I thought I should point this out!)))You can find instructiones on how to replace them on line, if you have lost your book. How to's are in it as well, but if you spilt a whole mug of Kona Roast on yours like I did, well, then you can go online.
I thought I should mention the brushes, because a lot pf people don't know about them. I didn't. So, before you toss it, check those. It saved me a bundle. You can also buy replacement brushes online, directly from Dremel, or on Ebay. It sure beats buying a new toy!(((Thogh not near as fun!)))
I will admit, I am so proud of myself when I can clear my work bench and do the repair on my tool, then get right back to work! Thats Right! WooooHooo! Ladies Rock!!!
Anyway, great thread, back to my coffee...Javajavajavajavajavajavajava...

You Go, Keoma! Years ago, my first Dremel began acting up. It wasn't the brushes. We took it apart and it was a little plastic gear that had begun to shread. We called up Dremel and ordered a new one for $4 plus shipping. I think I ordered a spare too. It arrived and we put it in and the thing ran for many more years after that. Never be afraid to take a screw driver to something.....just remember to unplug it first. LOL!
New Year all.

Speaking of master carvers high speed grinders, have you guys/gals heard of their conbo unit, a 50k grinder and a 130 watt wood burner in one unit. I bought a bunch of those for my classes and now i find that i don't want to teach advanced carvers (another story) so i find i have four of these units i can sell for a good price, in the wood carvers supply catolog they go for 379.00 wihtout the burning pen and foot pedal. i will let these four (keeping three of them and have sold three already) i will let you ahve mine, slightly used for 360.00 and that includes the foot pedal and detail master w/5tips check out the unit on page 11 of the recent catolog, also have some older foredom "s" series flex shaft machine i can let go at a fair price good machine jsut reducing my tool inventory still have 8 flex shafts and three combo units left, thanks, sorry for the long post.....PS. i do love the mastercarvers conbo unit just don't need so many now
