Just got this in my inbox - a fantastic opportunity to win a trip to Switzerland and take a class with a master carver! Tell your friends! Too short of a notice to get it in the magazine.... Carving Contest| Pfeil Carving| Win a Trip to Switzerland from Woodcraft.com | Woodcraft.com Blog Network |

Yes, Shannon, I posted an announcement and link to this contest on Nov. 30. See "Switzerland Anyone?" under Relief Carving. There was little response, so I PM'd a few outstanding carvers on this site.

I think that announcement just alienated a whole lot of master German carvers lol.....................lots of master carvers in Europe and now many here in America and So America.....not wise stating someone or somewhere is the Best in the World anymore......not stirring the pot, just an observation!

It is unfortunate that the Woodcraft guy in the video alludes to the "Best in the World," but we should not be so provincial to think we can't learn something from the Swiss master carvers. He also holds up a Pfeil tool roll when the actual second prize is the "Brienz Collection" which comes in a fitted Beechwood case. Take a look at the carvings in the contest gallery. Don't you think your carvings are better? It costs nothing to enter.

Hold up fellow Canucks!! This one isn't for us. A quick look at the rules indicate US only. Maybe next time...... ![]() Merryl Bustin Nova Scotia

Yes, Merryl, the rules limit entries to U.S. residents. I was going to urge Fred Zavadil to enter until I noticed the problem.
