Shannon .... just hot off the mail truck! Has arrived this 17 Day of May, a Thursday, and now my week is made. Looks like some good reading to look forward to.

They finally delivered it here . They only bring magazines to this town once a week. To enter in the Santa contest does it have to be our design or can we take one from a book or magazine as long as we give credit to the designer. I like the mask better but you had such a nice picture of it and article on it inside it didn't make a big difference to me .

Finally showed up on the news stand 2 days ago (22 May), had to scrounge a couple bucks before I could buy it. I hate it when payday is still a week away...

Anyway.

Took me a whole hour to read it, cover to cover (I'm a very fast reader) and now I'll start in studying it, line by line, picture by picture.

Don't get me wrong, a carousel horse is all very fine and dandy, but they are a total yawn (to me) when compared to the alternate cover featuring a mask. Lou Cacioppo says he is happy when a mask of his touches someone (I may be paraphrasing); well, each and every one of those masks (p57-58) really spoke out loud to me. For the masks alone, this has to be just about the best issue I have yet seen.

The article on Celtic carving is another high point. When I saw the Welsh love spoon on page 50, something started jumping up and down in my head, demanding I try one. As if I don't already have a dozen unfinished projects on the go!

You can enter a Santa you carved from a pattern - but points are awarded for originality. Looking forward to lots of entries!

Fox hunt results are always on the "from our mailbag" page - page 6 in the summer issue.

Yeh, but unfortunately, they never have the right name for the winner!
