Mine laid on the table with hubby magazines because I didnt recognise it as WCI. Hubby's mags are all shop type magazines with some type of rig/jig or table on the cover and mine looked like one of his so it was in his pile. :S

I have to agree Marci.....I walked in the kitchen and the WCI was laying on the table and at first didn't pay any attention, at first glance it looked like a "Wood" magazine or a "Woodworkers" magazine cover(s) Might consider something bold or different on the top or behind the name or ? Shannon to differentiate WCI from a miriade of woodworking mags....just a thought

It is definitely a break from the norm for our cover - it was down to that cover and the bunny from Leah Wachter. We're hoping it will appeal to the woodworker/beginner carver on newsstands - we know you guys will read it no matter what's on the cover!

Covers are always very difficult for us. In fact, for me, it is probably the most stressful part of putting together an issue. Feedback is always welcome - although like I said, subscribers care more about what's inside, it's those newbies and general interest folks I have to appeal to with the cover.

Shannon,

You know on the next cover you could use Nancy's Bust of Heffner and a bunny

Could open a whole new market

Lol

Shannon,
Good issue, the advertising didn't overrun the content. I, like a lot of people on the board drool at the thought of a new issue but the Fisher Body article was my least favorite (visited their plant as a child). Understanding that space in an issue is not unlimited I really like to see how things related to carving are done and what information I may be able to use in my carvings.
The Fisher story appeared more like human interest. I would have appreciated more text related to Marv's method for one piece carving as that is of high interest to me.
Congrats to all participants but a big thank you to Susan for her continuing quality contributions to the magazine!!

Earliest I got mine in a long time. Thanks for your help Shannon. Took it to work last night, opened it put it on my desk but was too busy to look at. Once out of the package your name isn't on it. I saw a CO reading it and I didn't realize it was WCI, I saw another CO reading it which surprised me because I didn't know he could read. Still didn't realize it was WCI until he gave it back. So the cover did attract an interest.

The ball-in-cage just amazes people. Mark's article was great I'm a Native American history buff, the Viking cottonwood bark carving and Netsuke carvings were cool too. You have Laura and Marv, relief carving projects, painting tips (wabbit) and three furniture articles . Great variety, great layout and not too loaded with ads which are correctly termed sponsors that keep the magazine cost down.

Another great issue! Congratulations on a terrific article Mark, your work is outstanding!!

Susan, both your contributions were excellent also!

I loved the Netsuke carvings, I can't imagine doing carvings so small and so perfect. I find them fascinating!

Lots of interesting articles, thanks again for another great issue! Deborah

Nice issue. Liked the Fisher body article.....My Dad ordered one of those Napoleonic Coach kits back in the 30's but never got around to building it. I have it in the original box with all the parts intact, cloth, castings, etc. Wonder how much it's worth now???
