I did not say that I was "against" the new upgrades ... I said I have not learned these 'facebook' type computer skill yet! I like the idea of having an area where we can get together as member of this board to chat about other ideas, issues and things that are happening in our lives beyond wood carving. This board is my second home ... Woodcarving Patterns, Classic Carving Patterns Online, Wood Carving Designs & Patterns Online, my home site, is my first. (Susan, such a shameless self-promo plug ...). My friends are here, my community is here. And although I do love talking carving and pyro I will enjoy the chance to broaden my friendships with getting to know you on a 'non-carving' level. I also think that such areas as the groups will take a lot of pressure off the main message board. It sounds (BobD ?!?) as though if you want to start a small chat group about your religious believes, political slant, that is focused on one geographical location or even shore bird carvers that snow board group ... why not! You can chat to your hearts content without fussing our Bill of Rights on the main board .... While I totally agree and believe that this message board must maintain it's focus on wood carving and pyro I also know that many of us have established friendship and may wish to take those friendships into other discussion areas beyond wood carving. Susan So ... |

I have a couple of questions about the "community" button. When I click and get the drop down box and open "social groups" while on page 1 I get the group for Favorite Science Fiction books. When I go to page 2 and select "social groups" again I get Emerald Coast Carvers. On page 3 I get "The Bloody Thumbs". Why does it change with each page and why doesn't it show them all on every page?

Unfortunately, there's no way for us to include a link from a person's profile to the gallery; the forum and gallery use two totally different software programs. Bob |

Hi Bob, Tried to get hold of you through your message box. (By the way, it is full and wouldn't take my message, so I found you here.) Now the world will know my requests - not all bad, accept for the PS part. Oh, well. Hope to hear from you. John Who Are Your Favorite Carvers ? Under Caricature Carving Good morning Bob. John Klompmaker here. I am one of the many carvers you met at the Iowa convention in June. At that time I asked you if there was a way to take part of a thread and make it into a separate thread. You said it shouldn't be a problem. I am finally getting around to presenting my request here. The above information gets you to the original thread by "Iowa Carver." The list I would like in a separate thread begins on page three. Now, most of the next ten pages on the original thread refer to this list. Would it be possible to get those comments to go to a new thread also? I would keep babysitting the responses and update the thread as it goes. Thanks for your help. John KKarver. PS. Another question. I did begin my own carving blog. Is it "kosher" or within bounds to let the Forum know about that blog. Also, if it is, could I link to WCI somehow? I am already promoting WCI in my widgets and in my posts. But I would like to let the other carvers know about the blog. Check me out - "johnklompmaker.wordpress.com I will hold off on posting a new thread about it until I hear from you. Thanks, Happy New Year. |
