Good point, Terry. This is all of the information people had exposed to the internet at large before we upgraded the site. Now you have the choice of making it private. That's why the default was set to "everyone".

I'll check with Claudio to see if we can change the default.

yes i see...but wow, we know google stores it all, there is hardly a place a google bot cannot reach, and so the "privacy" on the internet is only assumed. ... thanks for the infos

My 2 cents! If it's not broken there is no need to fix it. I have to agree wth Doris and Susan on their points. I also believe that for those of us who are not computer savvy this will make things more complicated for us.

I'd suggest you just ignore it then, Bill. It's a part of the upgraded software and not something we can shut off, so it's there for the members who want to use it. We had to upgrade because the software company stopped issuing security patches for the version of the software we were using and we were getting slammed with spam.

It sounds like it would be possible to use this new "Groups" tool to set up an area for your local carving club if all of your members were registered at WCI.

Bob, thanks for the info. I for one will start using the new features as I have time to go through them. As it is, I set my contact info for registered users only. I can see why you upgraded to the new software, I have seen some of the spam. You guys are doing a grand job of maintaining this forum for us all. Tell Claudio that he's much appreciated. Wow, the new software must be a challenge for spammers. Bunch of them this morning. I like the new features that I have been using. The profile pages still need some work though. I can't see most of the info on there.

Unfortunately, Paul, we won't be able to fix the glitch on the profile pages until we upgrade the entire website.
