Default Snowman Earrings Holiday Issue 2011 page 46

I made a round blank 2 1/2 inches long and this is supposedly for 2 earrings.
I then stopped after trying to figure out the measurements.
If you look at the layout at figure one and try to use the measurements in the description it just doesn't work as far as the correct measurements?

Has anyone worked this out?

Hi, Neil.

The measurements listed are from the end. Make the first mark at 3/8" from the end, the second mark at 5/8" from the end, etc. That will make the first segment 3/8" long, the second segment will be 2/8" long, the third will be 3/16" long, and the hat another 3/16" long. Total height of the snowman is 1 inch (not counting the beads and finding on top). After you mark the one end, turn the stick around and mark the other end. The piece in the center marked with an "X" is just waste wood. I do these two at a time so I have something to hold on to when carving, as you can see in the other photos.

Thanks Claude,
The way you explained it makes sense to me. I'm now busy carving them out.

I must have missed something somewhere, but what is the diameter of the blank your using?

It's in the list of materials, Steve: 3/8 inch by 3/8 inch by 2.5 inch long...
