| | Re: Santa Carving Contest Mark, I fell in love your Santa right from the first glance. Of course I voted for that optimistic Santa and I hope one day to be able to carve a similar one myself. God bless your hands. Lots of love from Central Europe (Hungary). Mary

| | Re: Santa Carving Contest I have to say I was absolutely amazed at the entries to the Santa competition--and the number of them, too! If WCI didn't give Shannon and BobD and the judges a vacation--they sure do deserve one! Wow! I wouldn't even know where to begin to start to sort through all the entries, and then, to judge them, too?!?!? FUHGEDABOUDIT!!!
So, I'll simply say hats off to all involved, particularly, Shannon! Job well done, both on the Santa competition, and WCI magazine. Thank you.

| | Re: Santa Carving Contest Here are the ones I entered. The judges saw fit to select three of them to be in the final 28 and the people voted me their champion (Carving in the first thumbnail). I mean no offense to the judges by what I am about to say, I know how difficult it can be to judge a contest of any kind especially judging art, I have always treasured People's Choice awards above awards from judges. In juried shows it is usually one or two judges deciding the winner, in this case it was hundreds of votes to decide the People's Choice. I was shocked when Bob called me and told me I had won, my carvings usually dont do that well because they are not your typical jolly santa. Thank you all. (Of course I probably just killed my chances of ever winning in the future )
Thanks to Shannon and Bob, all the judges and to all the carvers too that I will now be able to steal ideas from for next year!
