First let me say thank you to Bob for putting this all together I dont think we appreciate the logistics of doing a fund raiser like this. Also thank you to all of you that participated in the fund raiser. Although it is now history and not a lot of media coverage anymore the people of Japan are still reeling from the horrific events of that day. I cetainly hope that the bids go into the thousands and that we as a carving community can make a difference in these peoples lifes that will never be the same again. Again thanks to all that particpated I have looked at each square individually and can see the effort that went into producing these beautiful quilts

I love them, and as usual I cannot afford my own work. Thanks Bob, for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this project.

I'm getting a little push-back from a few places about the fact that this auction will be benefiting Japan relief efforts. I'm going to copy and paste my reply to this push-back here.

Quote:
We started the project in March. We received quite a bit of support from the international members of the message boards, and it wouldn't be fair to those members to change the recipients at this point. This is actually the third project like this that Fox Chapel Publishing has done. In 2005, the Woodcarving Illustrated message board auctioned off two friendship canes to benefit relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina. In 2006 the Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts board auctioned off a quilt to benefit Shriner's hospitals and the Woodcarving Illustrated board auctioned off a friendship cane to benefit the Association for the Blind.

Perhaps the pushers would like to organize a new project to suit their charity?

Bob, these turned out very nice!! I sure hope that these bring in tons of money.

Had you thought of maybe including the artists names in with your descriptions? That might help gain a little more cash if people knew just who had a hand in each quilt. Just a thought.

I agree with Bif--put up or shut up.

Bob--you, Fox Chapel, and all the participants started out on a project, and completed it. Now, we're waiting to see what hopefully amounts to a sizeable contribution to the Japan Relief Benefit. It is a job well done by all regardless of what the amount turns out to be.

Thank you.
