Default Poll... How many ordered Back Issues of WCI?

What a deal!

On September 7th I received the email from Fox Chapel announcing their Wood Carving Illustrated back issue sale. For the last 6-months I've been drooling over the back issue offer in the WCI magazine itself but couldn't get past the $5.99 an issue price. Then this offer arrived!

Whoopee! Only $2.99 a piece. I checked in with the boss and she said that we could spare a twenty so I went through the list of available issues, printed each out and painfully and carefully ear marked what articles I wanted in each issue.

I start subscribing to WCI beginning with issue #26 so my choice of what was available was somewhat limited. It was a hard choice but I finally settled on #2, #8, #12, #16, and #20.

Since the 7th was on a Friday and I didn't read my email until after close of business I had to bide my time until Monday morning to place my order. So on the 11th not too long after 9:00 a.m. I called in and gave the operator my issue numbers. Lucky me! All were available!

What is really nice and I can't thank WCI enough is that they do allow phone orders. This is the second time that I have ordered by phone from WCI because we choose not to use our credit card on line. It's probably a stupid reservation give the way business is done over the net and today security technology but it makes us feel a whole lot better taking to someone in person..... someone not from a far off shore!!!!!!!

Anyway, I was told that they should be here in 7-10 days. I can't wait. I'm leaving for the mountains most skoshi and I'm really looking forward to many, many hours of reading enjoyment! Baby

Now for the million dollar question....How many other carvers have placed an order for WCI back issues?

I ordered the case lot of back issues for $55US. It was expensive but now I have 20 issues plus the ones I've kept from the newstand issues. I'm very happy with the purchase and love referring back to the articles and how-tos.

Same here Joy.... I'd love to see the first issue. You know, if WCI was really on the ball they'd reissue the first issue as a collector's item.... they could even number them.

Hey BobD... got your ears on?

Have them all, no need to have two of each.

Hey Eddy, if they reissued the #1, it would make mine worth less. Have them all, wouldn't part with one of them.

There was a letter in one of the earlier issues asking for a reprinting of the first issue. The response was that reprinting the first issue would be breaking a promise to the Charter subscribers of the magazine.

I'm pretty sure they haven't changed their mind on that yet
