Default Mark Gargac Santa Ornament

It seems like LOADS of people are carving this project. How about if everyone who has completed one posts a photo here (or a link to your thread where you posted it). I can't remember any other article that inspired so many people!!!

BobD, I believe that the article is timely. I have been checking back through the archives because, as you say, everyone seems to be trying their hand at Mark's "inspiration"! I think it is a carving who's time has come and many are getting their skills up to a level where they feel comfortable trying it. I've done half a dozen attempts before the article came out and showed me how to do twice as many with the same amount of wood. But them I'm not one for doing a lot of one piece, so the half dozen plus one, may be enough!

I tip my hat to Mark though.... his carving has inspired more folks than ever before to attempt a version! Well done son!

Bob

Thanks Bob S. for the comments and also thanks Bob D. for mentioning the article. I've been seeing alot of great Santa carvings here on the board, but that's nothing new, we have alot of great carvers here. I'm sure I might have missed a few carvings and would really like to take a look. I have had a number of carvers email me pix. I always enjoy seeing thier work and if asked, I always get back with them. Carving these ornaments has been alot of fun. Having the opportunity to contribute to WCI magazine and share the skills I have acquired over the years with other carvers has been a real privilege and honor.
I talk about variations to the Santa ornament carving in the article. Some have come up with some really neat one's. I will post soon a tutorial here on the board for all interested on carving a Elf from this same blank to accompany the Santa ornament.
Thanks to all who have tried the carving and for your interest in my latest carving project. Chipper 67 That's a beauty, looks very realistic. The finishing looks real good to! Keep up the excellent work!
Have a safe and Holiday season. Best regards, Mark.

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

Mark's Santas are a real inspiration, and I finally put the tools down long enough to take some pics.
