Default leg lamp

First I must say I like Wood Carving Illistrated very much and wish it were published more often

I hate to be a sick in the mud but I found The Christmas Story boreing and tiring.

I also found the leg lamp tacky and in poor taste. I would think they would find something more tastefull and upbeat to publish as in the past during the first few years.

The difficult part about publishing a magazine is finding articles that please everyone...and I'm sorry that this one didn't please you. Aside from the leg lamp, what did you think of the rest of the articles?

It seems most people thought the leg lamp was good timing for "A Christmas Story", and also a bit of tongue in cheek....I find it strange that you only post once and then thats to complain on something most find humorous?

The Christmas Story boring? That's probably one of the funniest movies ever made which would explain why it's shown every year. I look forward to seeing it again each season for two reasons...

1. I think it's absolutely hilarious and contains many similar incidents that I experienced growing up during that same period.

2. It confirms that I'm still alive and that my sense of humor is still intact.

The leg lamp project was clever. It would be interesting to know just how many subscribers actually made it. Also, look at all the joke possibilities of such a project.

I ALWAYS enjoy the articles in Wood Carving Illustrated, some more than others. But I wonder if things are not starting to flatten out a bit.

I only post once because It is the first of many posts. and I don't expect every one to agree with me.

I think I'll move this to the "Publisher Feedback" forum as it's more about the content of the magazine than about the new member (Welcome to the site, by-the-way).

The magazine is targeted to carvers and, as can be witnessed by the variety on this board, that's a very wide spectrum of individuals. Not every article is going to be enjoyed by all. However, although I am not interested in all types of carving, I do try to read each article to get a different perspective on the hobby that I enjoy. I don't have to agree or even like it to learn something.

I would imagine that the articles could be perceived as being stale or flat on occasion as there may be cycles where there are less articles of personal interest. But that should cycle back again.

If we all agreed, no one would ever learn anything new. That's what makes us INDIVIDUALS.

Highroller, maybe you should suggest more articles on a specific subject that you are interested in instead of making a general comment about what you don't like. That's actually what this particular forum (Publisher Feedback) is provided for.

Lastly, with a little humor, -> If they only published articles that I liked, the magazine would be called "Mitchell's WoodCarving Illustrated".

Aperently I have joined this talk roon under false pretencis. I was under the inpression that it was a place where people who are interested in wood and woodcarving could go to recerve good advice instruction and could express opinions.
Well I looks like a few who profess to speak for the majority can chastize any one with an opinion diffrent than thier own
lust like any good old boys club.
If I would have known that to start with I would have saved time and not joined at all

This will be my last post you win
