someone help me out here...i just bought the jeff phares book carving faces. it is a great book, so i am looking at purchasing some of his other ones. on amazon, his ear and hair carving book is offered for 299.00? someone ebay has it listed for buy it now for 325.00? are these books ultra rare, or maybe guilded with gold pages, or does jeff magically spring from the pages to carve the ears and hair on your latest project? (that might be worth 325...) what gives?

| | Re: jeff phares high priced book??? I saw this as well. I just put it down to typo's.
I can't see that the books would be worth that much.
Maybe the one person saw the 299 and thought what the heck here is money to make and put it another one on there for 325? Just a thought.
Anywho I like his books but not to the toon of that much money.

| | Re: jeff phares high priced book??? I bought all three of his "face" books at the WCI Open House "scratch and dent" sale for less than list price. Perfect condition, new books.... I guess I got a better deal than I knew at the time. Mike |

| | Re: jeff phares high priced book??? I was just looking for another carving book yesterday. Driftwood Sculptures I think it was and I found the same type of thing. I think it was listed at 299.00 and 325.00 I think that was on Amazon also, so think someone might be playing games with them.

| | Re: jeff phares high priced book??? I have his books too, except for Hair & Ears which I had planned to order. I see the huge price listed for this book.
I went to Abris who deal in used and out of print books and they had the same price as Amazon. So I sent a query to the owner of the book and the only explantion I got from them was 'it's a rare book' and 'out of print.'
If you read some of the reviews at www.amazon.com many complained of the dark pictures in his books. Which, true they could be better, but just having the written how/to under the pictures is well worth the price (but not $299. - $325.)

| | Re: jeff phares high priced book??? A couple years ago I was reading a Christmas message board and someone was writing their shock about a $25, hard cover, Christmas craft book, now out of print, being sold for $300-400.
I own the book and could not believe it. I looked all over the web and that crafty little book was out-of-print, "rare", $300 and MORE. Just recently I was cleaning my book collection and decided to sell that. I found it all over eBay for $10.00.
