Hi I was wondering what was used for the hair for the carved doll on the movie Pictures of Hollis Woods? Also how the hair was applied to the carving. This looks like a great gift for my daughters and neices. Mel |

Mel... Do a search on the thread for Hollis Woods that ran last week. I believe that most of your question will be answered.

Hi Mel, the dolls hair was dyed sea grass as per BobD who ask the dolls creator. As for what he used to attach the sea grass I don't know. Maybe someone else will. Just a suggestion how about using black yarn and I would think good old Elmer's glue would work. I'd love to carve one of these dolls too and if I did that would be what I would use. Or even maybe a thick string might work too. Here is the Thread where it's discussed "Pictures Of Hollis Woods" Kathy

HA, Mel I'm an California Girl, and have friends who live by the Pacific Ocean. OK, OK, I'll make it easy on you go here http://www.basketweaving.com/shopsit...ml/page12.html you will need to dye it. Some suggestions Rit black dye, dilute some acrylic black with water and dip seagrass cording or leave in until you get the desired color. This seagrass is already dried/corded and ready to color. It might be there are other sites that have it already in colors. If I find a site I'll let you know.Kathy Update another sourse for sea grass www.thecaningshop.com
