I think that my beloved hubbie, Michael, and I have had about four fights in our 34 years of marriage and one of them is happening right now in my living room. So the first fight was the day we were moving into our home as a newly married couple ... we were moving my things in and on the way out the door I picked up my cat, Ashes ... "What do you want that thing for ???" Over our life time we have been owned by at least 50 cats ... grin! Another fight ended with the pack between us that I won't try to teach him to play bridge and he won't try and teach me history. So a box came in the mail from Fox Chapel with the latest book releases. That box had MY name on it! There are about 5 or 6 new books and as I was browsing through them HE reached out and grabbed "Woodworker's Guide to Handplanes" by Scott Wynn ... What I saw of the book it looks like a beatuiful book ... from all of the Ohhhs, Ahhs, Yeas! it must be a good book ... from peering over his shoulder I am seeing lots of wonderful drawings, detailed sketches, photos of antique planes, lots and lots of techie stuff ... But he has it clutched so tightly in his grubbie little fingers and his nose stuck in every pages I don't think I am going to get to see it until he goes to the bathroom and I can steal a glance. From Michael's reaction "Handplanes" is an eye candy book for anyone interested in the details, construction, maintanence and preformance of woodworking handplanes .... Susan Irish Dangitanyway! That book came in a box with my name on it and he will probably take it with him to the john just to be able to keep reading it ... sigh! |

Tony, Good Sir! You are a genius. I will lay in wait for the next WoodWorkers Supply or Van Dyles or Sanding Supply to come in the mail and do the dirty switch ... This must be a good book because he still is hoarding it from me. Ya kno' some carvers are like me and collect tools to use and even abuse to create the work. Some are like Mike that collect tools to enjoy, cherish and preserve .... and sometimes those two approaches come into conflict. Now I not only can't I use his antique planes I can't even read about his antique planes. Off to check the mail box. Susan |
