To be honest, I never noticed it! But I just looked and it wants the author or issue? If a person with a complete collection knew that, they wouldn't need that lol...............the index OG posted is great, I copied/printed and put it with my back issues. |

| | Re: Flashback Articles? Hi Ho, you can search by "keyword" and that is what makes it so valuable to me.

| | Re: Flashback Articles? Yes - the keyword function is very nice - we actually use the feature internally quite often. If a customer calls and says - there was this article on trolls and I can't remember which issue it was in - we can pop over to the online index and find out right away... We don't like going through all those back issues either... and can't always rely on memory! |

| | Re: Flashback Articles? Just MTCW, I like the index search, but I prefer the format OG pointed us to (Thanks OG... beat me to it). You can do a keyword search within this file as well, usually with a CTRL-f while you have the file open. The added bonus... it's fun to just browse through and stumble on something you didn't know you were looking for.
It's probably more dangerous in a way... more opportunities for carving UFOs (Un-Finished Objects) .

| | Re: Flashback Articles? I'll agree with HiHo about an end of the publication cycle index of articles. While the ability to find articles online is nice not every subscriber is online so it's not available to everyone. Such an index is nothing new, a number of magazines I subscribe to already do this. As almost all magazines give a list of the advertisers at the back of a magazine I can't see that it would be that difficult to do this once a year for the articles. |

| | Re: Flashback Articles? What would be the most useful format for a printed index? If it is just by article title, what if you don't remember what it was called? Same problem if by author, and keyword could be 5 or 6 different things... To do it correctly, it would be massive... |

| | Re: Flashback Articles? Shannon,
I remember "Firehouse" magazine had indices of the articles for the year in every December issue--or around that issue. I'm not 100% certain, but I think they had 2 indices; one by subject, and one by author. They were always useful for me when putting training programs together, and updating or cross-checking information in them.
Their URL is Firehouse Magazine: May 2008 Issue

| | Re: Flashback Articles? Title of the article, Author, issue and volume number. I think that would be plenty. I don't think you would have to do it for everything in the magazine, only the major articles. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
