Default Flashback Articles?

First off, I have every issue of this magazine published and love going back to them for ideas. But I get other magazines and I know I missed a lot of cool articles from years past, before I got the magazine.

I think it would be a great to have a flashback article in each new Mag. Us "lifers" would just skip over it, or say I remember that one.

New subscribers would get a glimse of a past great project or tip. And maybe give it a try.

This has been on my mind for awhile, and was wondering what Bob and staff think of it, and other carvers on the site think also.

I'd be interested to hear what others think, but I have to guess that I would get several complaints on the "re-purposed" material. Folks would think we have run out of new stuff and feel cheated. Back issues are available, and if there is a certain article you are looking for out of one of the sold out issues, you can purchase a color copy of the article for a few dollars from our customer service girls.

I think what I would prefer is an "index" maybe printed as an insert maybe once a year or so....this index would be pulled out and placed with our collection of back issues and when we are looking for something specific, we can look there instead of having to go through all the magazines! I can't tell you how much time I have spent looking for a specific pattern, article etc etc. imho.

Ever since the first issue a index of WCI patterns from each issue has been provided by someone not connected with WCI.
Here's the url;
Yorkarvers Wood Carving Club - Wood Carving Illustrated Index

It provides a number of different formats for the WCI Pattern Index.

I agree with what Shannon says. It would look like there isn't any more new stuff, and if I want a certain article, I could get a copy of it. I would rather see WCI revisit an article and maybe update it or put a new spin on it. For example, let's suppose there was an article on carousel carving using hand tools. And WCI revisited the topic and did it using power tools. This is just an example--I have no interest in any of what I used for the example. But I think you get the idea.

We do have the online article index (on left under magazine). Does anyone use it?

Yes, I do. It's quicker than flipping through the stack of magazines.

Shannon, I use that online index all the time. It is a very nice feature. I appreciate the work put into it.

Shannon:
Yes, I use the index on the left side quite often.
