Default Dave Brock!

How about that wonderful article by our own Dave Brock.
I knew you had something to do with a kids camp but did not understand the whole thing. That was a great article and some good ideas I'll be using on my own kids.
Thanks for educating and informing us Lightningbolt!

Congratulations Dave!!! Great article and my hat goes off to you son! What you are doing for those kids is super idea and one that I'm sure they will remember with great fondness in years to come. A little encouragement goes a long way with kids and is a great boost for their self confidence. They face so many negative things growing up, it is great to see that you are contributing a great positive to their path. Well done!

Bob

YES, wonderful article about a very dedicated teacher and nice guy. I'd love to see more articles like this one. Our WCI Message board members are not only talented carvers and woodburners, but down right giving and sharing of their talents. Good Job Dave Brock and WCI.

Thanks for all the gracious comments everyone. It really means a lot. I don't consider myself a master carver so I can only say that it was a real honor to be published alongside others like Cipa, Akers, Irish, and all those other great carvers that WCI highlights on a regular basis. I suppose that I've developed my own unique style that mainly has it's base founded on education and kids but no real award winning masterpieces of my own.

It's been a lot of fun this week as I've been passing the article around to the kids and it has elevated me to a celebrity status. I actually think that they're even listening to me a little better now so that in itself was worth it all. One of the kids today asked me why I was frowning in the picture and that's been bothering me ever since because I really do live with a smile. I guess that I was trying to look a little too serious for the camera.

My thanks must go to Bob Duncan and Shannon Flowers who were a joy to work with on this project. I've had other stuff published before in some other magazines and it's always just been a business relationship but at WCI it was nice to feel a family like atmosphere and I'm sure that others here like Bob Squarebriggs, Mark Akers, Susan Irish, Colin Partridge and others can vouch for. It was quite obvious to me from the beginning that they have the right team in place at WCI and that's worth a LOT.

Thanks again for your kind words and I hope that you will take the time to inspire a kid when the next opportunity arises.
