Default Bob, Shannon the news in Lancaster

Bob,

I know we do not often use the fourm this way, but considering the open house where we were this week-end. I think that school is very close to Fox chapel where the 5 girls were killed.
I really do not know if we could do anything, but I do know there were many Amish that were there during the open house. I know the Amish can be very touchy about outsiders, but if there is anything we can do for the families of these children would you let us know.

Garry

I'm not sure yet what we are going to do as a company, but as I find things out, I'll let you know.

I know Amish do not have any health insurance, and the two surviving girls are sure to be racking up very high medical expenses (and the one that died in the hospital as well, I'm sure)...

So when I hear anything I'll post it here!

Bob

Sure are some very sick folks in the world! Bloody shame ...... poor little girls never hurt anybody! Similar shooting up here in Montreal last week, and again out West. Has the whole world gone mad???

Please keep us posted Bob, we would all like to help in some way I'm sure.

Bob

This morning, I did an Auction for the Amish...I do 2 to 3 per week for them. They're farmers and this is a wholesale produce Auction.
One of them asked me before the Auction if I'd heard any news about the girls that were shot. I updated him about the 4th child dieing, with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. I went back to my truck and got a bandana to mop tears with if it came up again before starting the Auction. The mood was heavy, but it wasn't brought up again. If it had been, I would have been a basket case, trying to do an Auction with a huge lump in my throat.
Since moving to Tennessee in December, I've got to know a lot of Amish, especially helping them as "their Auctioneer". I've never met a nicer group of people. Their response whenever I've needed help has been, "always willing to help a neighbor".
It's of course a great tragedy when ever children are done wrong, but these People walk by a code most Folks believe is right but don't walk by. They're friendly, good natured Folks who go out of their way to help their neighbors, not hurt them, and to walk simply on the Earth. It's been a great honor and adventure to get to know them. It does rain on the just and the unjust.
Thank you, Good Folks, for caring about others! You are a very giving group as well.
Wade

I can't say for other Amish group but the ones around Yoder Kansas are a tight group. They will talk to outsiders and have some outside friends but usually, they unite within.
yES, a TERRIBLE thing.

Have to agree with Dave, it will get worse before it gets better.

Bobd, Please keep us informed on what can be done. I am not a great carver but would be willing to donate a carving or two myself.

Sad thing is there are a lot of people who needs help anymore and not enough people helping. I will get off me soap box now.

there is a family in colorado that lost a daughter too! I am afraid with whats going on in the world trying to send a carving to every victim is a losing proposition....a lot of ernest , fervent prayer might be a better offering! "If my people who are called by my name will turn from their wicked ways and call my name, I will hear and heal their land!"
