Hi Luciano, Basswood's Latin name is Tilia Americana , you may have something in the Tilia family that grows in Italy that would match the carving qualities of North America's Basswood. Cheers OG |

Ya want to look for linden or limewood as it's called across the pond, it is very simelar and linden actually carves better then basswood. There are more then 30 specie in the Tilla family, basswood and linden are cousins so to say. Carl
