Here is a link to a three part tutorial I did on carving wood spirits, in a staff and in bark. Let me know if you like it! "Carving a Tree Spirit" #1: Face and Nose - by mpounders @ LumberJocks.com ~ woodworking community

Mike: Looks good, I always enjoy seeing how others approach carving woodspirits. I remember when I first started woodcarving the subject I most wanted to learn to carve was a Woodspirit or Mountain Man. Being able to watch tutorials really helped me learn the steps in carving Woodspirits. It's folks such as yourself and others who take the time to set-up tutorials to help their fellow carvers. Sincerely, Kathy

Outstanding tutorial Mike. Great photographs and good explanations. I saved it in Word format so that I can print it out and have with me. It's too bad that Skylar Johnson's photographs aren't as clear as your's are. His book would have gone from good to great!

Thanks for posting the tutorial Mike! This type of shared knowledge is priceless for anyone interested in carving their own wood spirit. The wood spirits are what sparked my interest in carving 5 years ago. Clinton |
