Part two of my Study Stick Tutorial is now up on my blog. In part one, I showed how to carve a basic nose using a study stick to practice each of the steps to carve a nose. In part two, I walk you through the steps of how to carve a simple mouth, adding on to what was done in part one. In order to make it possible for any carver to follow along, I keep the tools simple. A knife and a small gouge are the only things you will need to finish this carving. It's my hope that these tutorials will be helpful to all the beginners out there that struggle with carving faces. I hope you will stop by and carve along with me. Just two more parts to go and we will have a finished face. Here's the link to the tutorial: http://theoldstump.blogspot.com/p/tutorials-page.html

BrandantR; I certainly can't speak for everyone, but as for me your study sticks are FANTASTIC!!! I am retired and new to woodcarving and have had a terrible time learning these carving tricks. Your study sticks are clear and concise...they answer all questions. Please keep them coming. Pamlar |
