The spoon looks great and you've provided an excellent tutorial. Please tell me, do use one of those scroll saw blades that is supposed to cut both ways, like up and down cuts? Cliff |

Hi all and thanks for the kind comments. RE. the scroll saw, which I used to cut the outer profile and the blind holes, I use a Flying Dutchman, reverse-tooth blade, usually 10-13 teeth/inch to give a really fine finish to the edges. While I like the final appearance of the cypress spoons, with the pronounced and interesting grain, it's a bear to carve. Like most conifers, it has the hard/dark summer rings and the softer/lighter fall/winter rings, so it's like carving a picket fence with edge tools. Power carving would be much easier. I made my first appearance as an exhibitor at our local carving show this weekend. It was a great show and very well attended; about 900 visitors in two days. I took a lot of photos and will post them as soon as I get them downsized. Mike |

Mike, I have this in a file that I could post, if ok with you. It would have to be in five parts, even with the downsized photos. Joggernot

Here are the files. Download each. Then you can recombine them in MS Word so you have only one file. Joggernot
