Thanks Susan ... I think this is a great tutorial. I wasn't sure how to do one. I posted my first effort in the wood carving tutorial (progression for carving a mask) useing just photo's as a picture is worth a thousand words and I type slow. Thanks for showing me how you do it. Love your books and your work. Thanks H.

I received a PM from David who wants to finish his Grapeman using an Acrylic Dry Brushing over Oil Finish to add color. The technique can be found here on my site. I, personally, think this would be a wonderful step for the project so I thought you might like to take a peek at how dry brushing is done. Susan Irish |

Hello. I have finished my Grape Man. Here is a photo. Finally, i used the linseed finish, three coats, plus a wax polish. I will use the brush paint finish that you told about to us for my next project... I'm very happy of this carving. Your tutorial (the best ever read) made it easy to do, it was a great experience. Many thanks... And thanks for the scrapper trick, it's very usefull. Take Care. Dany. |

Hello Lora... You're really nice with me and my carving... I had a few accidents, and made some mistakes... But a carver i read (who ?) said that a carver don't have to show his errors to peoples... So, i may still quiet... But yesterday, when i compared my grape man with your on photos, it was like a seven error game (or seventeen... or seventy)... Neverthess, i'm very happy, cause it's the fist time that i'm so close of the initial project... Lot of little mistakes and accidents, yes, but no big ones. Thanks to your extra clear tutorial... I was like a baby under your protection. I don't even cut myself. It was a miracle... Santa Subito Lora Irish !!! About the finish, i never tried the linseed formula and i'm very satisfied by the staining that it gives to the lime... A bit like oregon fire... Au revoir... Dany |
