Default Rapunzel tower

Could someone give me some ideas on making a round tower like from a castle? My daughter loves rapunzel right now... I posted in the tutorials section hoping someone might whip up a little tutorial for a round tower, please.....

Don't know if this will help but yesterday I googled lighthouses . I was thinking of doing one for a walking stick top. It may work for your tower also

I don't know how big you want to make it but Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Supply sells northern baswood dowels in 1 1/2", 2" and 3" x 12" sizes. I've gotten them before and they are nice carving wood!

I can see a few options here, none of which would be all that difficult;

1) Starting with a large round or tapered stick, carve a window near the top, then carve a stone or brick pattern over the rest of the surface.

2) Starting with a flat board, gently round the sides until it looks like you took a vertical slice from an upright cylinder. Now proceed with adding details as in option 1. You could cut all the way through for the window on this version, then have a doll peeking out from behind the board.

3) Like option 2, but make it into a doll house by building a thin plywood box behind the facade.

it is in the gallery section of my website www.creationcarvings.com

Hope this gives you an idea,

David
