Thank you!!!!!

Susan | Thanks Susan, You might ask to get a trimmer router, they are smaller and very easy to control with one hand. (but use both hands!) you can get very small bits
that will work with them, as small as 1/16" on the cutting end of the bit.
well i better get going on fixing some pics. seems like they that as long as the carving does. o- buy the way i'm into this carveing about 14 hours to this point
so i know that it saves me alot of time to get rid of the carbage wood so i can get to the fun part (detaling!!) |

| | Re: power relief carving a door Wonderful tutorial Stacy. Interesting method, and very innovative. I work with such an outrageous assortment of tooling it's shameful. Watching someone do such fine work with far less just brings a huge smile to my face. Carving should stay simple, and fun, and you really make it look fun while accomplishing splendid results. very much ! |

I sometimes have the same problem(too many tools), but after many years i seem too get out the same basic line up of tools, then add from there, it seems that you never now what tool is going to work best.

| | Re: power relief carving a door The trees are pretty straight forward, as i just use my trimmer router ( the orange colored one that is already posted i guess you can't use the same pic 2 times)
and cut in between the trees to the same depth ( the lowest part of the panel)
then i use a big mallet chisels and take about a 1/4 in Peace of wood off at a time
where a small branch crosses over the trees i have run the router 1/4" above the tree ( the same thing as a stop cut but with my router) |

| | Re: power relief carving a door pic#1 now that i have the tree cut off i will use my power chisels to start roughing it down to where i want it. the cuts are on an angle as to get under the head and body. as i go up the tree i will cut on the same angel all the way up
to the top, but not as deep. withe the Branch's crossing over the trees i can leave more wood and still make the tree look like its deeper then the rest of tree.
( i guess thats why the call it relief carving! ) the other pics. just show the cuts going up the trees, and under the body.

| | Re: power relief carving a door This pic. shows that everything is roughed out and now I'm ready too start having fun!! ( putting in the details , fur
bark, etc.. ![006[1]](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/006[1].gif) ) the total time of this project so far has been about 21 hours.
( i have a few other carvings going two so i don't work on this full time.)
sorry about the pic size but it won't let me make it bigger so i will post it in the carvers gallery.
Thanks for watching, as soon as i get
