Default Mtn. Man Mask(Thread#8)

Pic.#1 I am taking a #9/20mm gouge and starting to shape the hat a little more, i'm thinking s and c shapes in a radom type of a pattern so to speak the right side has been cut in and I am working on the left side. Pic.#2 using a 9/13mm gouge take the previous cuts that was made with the 9/20mm and cut a little deeper adding some more texture, more on the hat latter. Pic#3 I am using a #5/70mm gouge along with a mallet and knocking that corner off ,do the same to the other side. Pic.#5 using a #7/25mm start cutting in at shoulders at a downward angle towards the chest ,at this point you are working directily on the side of the carving and towards the back as you get closer to the chest,I hope that makes sense.

Mark I think you should make up a project book for this. I would be willing to buy a set of instructions like this.

Thumbs Up Mark I'm really enjoying your instructional tutorial also. Thank you for taking the time to do it. I think your work is really first class and the mountain man is looking really nice. As a beginning carver I can really appreciate your clear concise directions.
