Default Mtn. Man Mask (Thread #2)

Here I am starting to establish planes on the face and going a little deeper in at the eye sockets( 9F/13 mm gouge) right there in the first pic. the second pic you can see two small black dots I put on right there in the inside corner of the sockets by the bridge of the nose, you want to get good and deep right there, ( this is the area where you will cut in the deepest on the face) Pic.# 3 I am cuting (11/10mm gouge) right up along side the smile line right into the inside corner of those sockets and then pic#4 relieving that cut with the (9F/13 mm)right into the inside corner of that eye socket again.. The last pic. I am shaping the cheeks ,with a (5/16mm gouge) take just enough off to give this area some shape, the gouge is flipped upside down and I am leting the tool dictate the shape.

I agree Bob that is a great tutorial in only five pictures I would love to see you do one from start to finish of that carving. I learned a whole bunch from just these five pictures. Thank you so much for sharing that great job BTW. I look forward to seeing more on this thread.
Colin

Colin...check out the similar thread in the WIP section, "Mtn. Man Mask"....he has started it from the beginning. Another five photos there. Thus, this being Thread #2.

Geez Colin...you have to get on here more, you're losing your touch. Must be the new type work that has you all off!

Bob

Thanks!
