| | Re: Miniature carvings Mischief .. Those are go0d videos .. I have seen them .. but please if your a beginner in minatures .. carving that small is very dangerous unless you have had experience at it ..
The only problem with that small of carving is the problem with detail .. if it is too small .. you cant add much detail ..
Thats why I try and stick to charcters not under three inche's tall .. besides .. getting the knife that close to the your fingers is very dangerous for the carving breaking ..
Don Mertz can carve very small because he uses the tip of his knives and turns out great pieces ... But he is also a very experienced wonderful carver and knows his business ..
Jack Price is also the father of compact character carving and his books and videos are great ..
For anyone first starting .. I would recommend not going that small at first untill they have some time under their belts with minatures ..
Iam going to offer a video on u- tube doing minature characters .. but they will be around 3 inches tall .. Watch for it soon ..
God Bless
Gene

Well...while I am intrigued by the miniature, I actually accidently found it when I was looking for a how to paint carving video. I am at the stage of wanting to start painting but being a bit scared by it all.
Thanks for the link anyhow. For now the only miniatures that I will carve are what accidently turns into miniatures because I keep resizing to correct a mistakes.
