Default Incised Lindenwald Tree

I'm new here so I thought I'd say hi with a step by step. The wood is eastern white pine. The image is about 18" wide. Incised carvings are pretty flat especially at this size. The image is seperated from the background with a "V" cut and then the image is shaped. All the textures are left from single edge tools and I don't sand. The colors are oil stains.

If you right click on the image and then click LOOP, controls willpop up so you can see this in a frame by frame sequence.

I hope this may be of some help.

,

Joe

Joe,
Wow! and Welcome! I'm pretty new here myself, and wish now that I had made an entrance like that.

Have to laugh at myself... I thought it was "done" at frame three . Nice work, real nice.

Thanks everyone!
This piece is hanging on a historic stone house in PA Dutch country. It was completed last fall. I do a folk festival in Kutztown during July.....that is where I got the commision.

Thanks again,

Joe

Now that is really impressive! Really like the way you did it from a completely finished piece of wood. Unique.

Thanks Lynn and Steve.

Lynn, the panel is stained first then carved so it's not really "completely finished" untill the carving is done and then the whole thing is clear coated.

Thanks Again,

Joe
