Smile gourd carving tutorials

I have several free basic gourd carving tutorials on my website. Carving on gourds is very similar to carving basswood, except there is no grain, and you are working with a hollow shape. I do lots of cutouts, fretwork and relief carving on gourds. If you'd like to see the tutorials, please visit Arizona Gourds - Distinctive gourd art by Bonnie Gibson and look for the tutorial links.

Hi, Bonnie. Thanks for posting your web site and mentioning your tutorials there. I enjoy your book very much and have just attempted my first gourd work based on a couple of your gourds in the book. The information in your tutorials is a nice addition to the already clear instruction in your book.

Thanks.
Beth

Bonnie, i just searched for gourds on here and found this. Your website is great! I have some gourds coming next week and can't wait to do something with them. I was off line when you posted this. Glad I found it!
