| | Gene's New Video Tutorial - Carving A Dog Gene has another great beginners tutorial up on YouTube. Carving a little hound dog. He has also added an axe tutorial project as well. Great job Gene and keep these coming! http://www.youtube.com/user/whittler0507
Suggestion Gene, can you post a photo or two here of the finished project? That would help us newbies as well as sometimes it's hard to get the same kind of detail shot you can as with your digital camera. Be nice to see the final project up close.
Thanks again Gene!
Corey

About now I'm fit to be tied.

I feel your pain. I've got the same problem. Technology is making us dial-up users antiques! I recently up-graded to an accelerated version of dial-up but it does nothing for downloading files and videos. Part of the problem of U-tube is that they don't let you down load the video file. It's only a stream and view arrangement and for some reason this seems to be even slower than just downloading. I've yet to view any of Gene's tutorials. I'd be happy just to see still photo's of what he's carving.

| | Re: Gene's New Video Tutorial - Carving A Dog Hey Eddy, let's gang up on Gene and get him to put a couple of these on a DVD so us poor people on phone lines can see them as well. The first one he did, I went to my daughters house, downloaded it in about 10 minutes, put my flash drive in and Whamo, ya can't download the dang thing. I have an excellerator as well but it still anin't worth a dang compared to cable. The cable company said that our area should have it in ten years, do the math, I'm 77 now. (smile)

Gene's been more than generous with his tutorials. I've downloaded all of his still picture tutorials and made booklets out of them for my own personal step by step reference. I would think that if he went into the CD or DVD business that he could forget about any future carving. With all the people on this forum he wouldn't have the time to pick up a knife.
P.S... You planning on goin' someplace??? Oh yea of little faith! Ha! Ha!

| | Re: Gene's New Video Tutorial - Carving A Dog Hey Corey,
That is a nice video. Thanks for letting us know! Great job Gene, hopefully it will bring a few new (young) carvers into the fold! I am of the opinion that the person who dies with the most knowledge doesn't win, that person just takes away from the next generation. Thanks Gene, for sharing. Now don't be reading that I think someone is gonna die, I am just illustrating the point that it is a good thing to share knowledge ;O)).

| | Re: Gene's New Video Tutorial - Carving A Dog Yeah Eddy, I agree completel, but for my own personal taste Gene ghas been heaven sent, I'm still floundering around tryin to be a wood carver, It may be my age makin me a little thick in the head, but I just don't get it without Genes help. And besides, if he did start to do the DVD thing, just maybe he'd be able to retire from that steady nite job he's on now. Please don't ever think my observations are complaints in any way, such is certainly not the case.
