Hello, I finished downloading and converting all of Gene's videos. I want to emphasize, I am not selling Gene Messer Videos. I am trying to help those folks that do not have the bandwidth to view or download the files. I only want to be reimbursed for my expenses. I sort of averaged the whole thing out based on requests I have received. You can contact me thru a PM to get my address, send me $4.00 to cover expenses, and I will send you a DVD containing all of the Gene Messer Videos currently posted. The disk will contain the native .FLV files and the converted .WMV files. The disk will not Autoplay, and there is no menu. If you do not understand how to use the files or play them, please feel free to contact me and I will get you started. Now the important part! I would ask for each and every one of you to send Gene a thank you. And send a message to BobD or Shannon and ask that Gene be considered for Woodcarver of the Year. This man needs to be recognized. I cannot think of any other carver that has given as much to the carving world, with advice, tutorials, and Free videos. As well, who do you know that has done as much to honor the Andy Andersons, the Tryggs, and all the others that made Flat Plane Carving so famous. Thank you Gene! p.s. I almost forgot, if you cannot use a DVD, I can send a CD. The only problem is that a CD cannot hold all of these files. If you only want a few of the videos, I will do what I can to help you out. Please PM me and we can discuss it. Last edited by BobT; 05-23-2008 at 07:35 AM. |

| bob t, I to would like to second cliff's words as to how much Gene video helped him, matter fact i can say i felt like cliff, ready to chuck the whole works, at that point i was not having fun with my carving, just doing what i did over and over, somehow i got a copy of WCI, and that started the ball rolling, at first i wanted to learn how to paint my carvings, then i found WCI web site, look out someone turned on the light, man i thought how do they keep it going, how do they make any $, and all these people just giving away information, all you have to do is ask, unheard of, the great carvers, old and new, as it turned out after reading hour after hour of many of the postings, ordering back issues of ,chip chat ,WCL, and other magazines, learning how to strop my new knives, just do as all of them say , do it again and again, sign up for classes , set up travel, build a nice shop to work in, yes i sent some money and stayed up late, and tried many types of carving that i thought i would never have the nerve to try, so, thanks to people like ,bob t, hi-ho, who was kind enought to email me how to post my first emial, to Jim-o , who recomended the classes, lynn doughty and his post , many things gleamed from that site, the bishops, mark y, i could go on and on, but you kow who you are, the fact that the woodcarving world has some really great people that share with out thinking, and i must say besides making wood carving a joy, i feel proud to know you all, unlike cliff i have yet to find "my nitch" buy just watching him grow as a craver , is as they say "priceless", yes i would like to see Gene"s name put forth, and i would like to thanks him , and WCI for making this all possible, so the big buckeye THANK YOU GENE AND WCI Sam c |

Well done Buckeye! Don't stress about the carving. One day it is just there. I stressed over eyes for several years. Then along comes Mark Gargac and all of a sudden I got it! My hat is off to Mark, for life. There are so many ways of doing things. So many ways to carve eyes, for instance. You just need the exposure because one of the techniques will fit you. Now I know several different ways and am successful with all of them. It will come to you, trust that. There are many giving carvers on this board, like you said. I do not want to diminish anyones efforts. It is just that Gene really stands out to me. BobT |

In a world where everyone is out to make a buck, I applaud you and Gene. I am glad to see you keep the spirit in which Gene intended these videos. Gene is very giving of his time and even though I haven't produced to many of Gene's projects I have basically learned the basics of carving from Gene while watching the videos. He is a great carver as everyone knows and a even greater person. Corey

iowa you said it just right,i think gene and bob have really stepped up,carving videos are high, same as all i guess, not knocking the ones who make them to sell,i've bought my share and there are several on here that i want to buy their's as well.but especially when it;s beginner carvers that may have limited budget and tools and would rather spend money on better tools, this is great and can be much better than just looking at pictures and trying to follow along.Thumbs UpMobster thanks to both of you,you both get an ataboy award!! oh yea go ahead and mark me down for the sequel!!
