Default female woodspirit/Dryad

Ok, so I've been carving a lot of wood spirits, and I've had several people ask me if I could do them a female version. I've tried to look for tutorials for simple female faces (other than "little guys" which are a bit to caricature) and haven't been able to find any.

Does anyone have, or would be willing to create, a tutorial for such a thing?

There is not many out there who take on the challenge of carving a female woodspirit, let alone doing a tutorial...at least that's my observation. I've done a few female characters...with some of them you could call a female woodspirit. Capturing the female facial features is not an easy feat. I would love to try my hand at providing some learnings I have obtained over the years in a tutorial. I'll keep that in mind for later this fall. Perhaps some of the other fine carvers here can help you out much sooner.

I recently purchased "how to carve faces in driftwood" (Enlow) and in the book is a step by step for carving a female face. I can't say that I have tried it yet, but it might be of some help.

Here's a link to a cane I did....might give you an idea, at least for layout. I am not happy with my female faces just yet, but I did sell this cane. I have a study stick and an Ian Norbury book on female faces and still haven't figured it out. But hopefully the seminar I'm going to in a few weeks will starighten me out! (knock on wood)

thanks for the images. they do give me some ideas, I was more looking into techniques themselves, and how to rough in the shape of the face.
