Default Feathered Friends Coming Home

Here are a few birds I carved before I joined the WIC forum.
These carving were done with my friend teaching me carving. We would find a bird we both liked and we would carve together, that way he could show me how to make my cuts on his bird. The wood is tupelo gum and acrylic paints.
Since we planned on moving they were packed away in storage for two years. Unpacking them was like Christmas, and trying to decide where we would display them.
They are pretty dust as you can see we still have to clean them.
Hope everyone enjoys seeing them.

That's some good looking birds. How much fun you must have had when you opened those boxes and relived the experience of carving them with your friend.

Hello Bill,
That's some pretty fine carving you did!
I saw your Pileated woodpecker and thought I'd show you a similar one I made. It's an almost extinct Ivory Billed Woodpecker.
As you can see, I used mine as a doorknocker. I mounted it on a branch that had a lot of woodpecker holes in it. If you ever make another one, I highly recommend making a doorknocker with it. Grandkids love it!!
Again, great job on your carving and painting of the birds.
Greg
