Thanks Bill. I have a couple more of these Imperials to mod so I won't be running out of projects for awhile. I found one on ebay that has the screwdriver partially broken but well ahead of where I would cut it off anyway. Cost was $5.51.

Great thread.

I have a Schrade Multi knife that my kids combined and bought for me when I was into horses and competing plus doing overnight camping trail and competitions. They paid a lot for it and it is a shame to see it unused sitting in my drawer.

One thing I have done is sharpen one of the blades to another level since learning to carve. I have not been game to try to alter it too much but it has a lot of blades on it so would make a good travellering whittling and carving knife without taking along a lot of other gear .

Is there a way to tell if it is a US product or a Chinese one. I think it is US. I was also given a cheaper Leatherman from a friend which I have converted into a carving knife and it came up really good but it is the Schrade I am interested in but do not want to damage it hence why it is sitting in my drawer waiting while my experience catches up.

Terry, Great job with the Ol' knife. A true rebirth, in a better place. A super thread you started. Good photography too. Thanks!

Pete, I don't know much about those Schrade multitools. I think I bought one once but I'll be darned if I know where it is. But it was a whole different breed than their knives.

Tom, I'm glad you enjoyed this thread. I know how much you like carving with a slip, so I thought you might like this one.

Well Terry, I just had to do one. I got this far, and if I am happy with how it holds an edge, I may take it a little farther. I broke the tip off on doing a face on a Mora handle, and then reground , and now it seems to be doing great.

Thanks for the thread. Tom

Tom, that's a good looking knife and it looks like you did a super job! Great carving too BTW. I like the nice scales on that puppy. I'll have to find a Case to do.

I am in the middle of doing another Imperial. Found one on ebay with a broken screwdriver tip and picked it up for peanuts. Cost more to ship than buying it. LOL! A work in progress.

Hello Terry....I have a lot of grease in my GOOD elbow but you also need to know....what angle bevel to cut,how to hold knife to cut the angle, what shape to cut, how much to take off to make it a good carving knife...I really admire you guys who can do this stuff. Great work and a really nice looking knife.
