Blake: Just in case, since you didn't specify whether you wanted to carve an egg from a block of basswood, or you wanted to carve something else from a basswood egg, here's one of the former (scroll down to the 4th and 5th photos)

Woodworkers Institute - Forums: Gulp! Here goes.

Blake... I don't have any tutorials but I've got a couple of cheat sheets that I made up for carving a panda egg and a penquin egg that you're welcome to have if you want them. Nothing fancy. Just some photos of previous projects and references to go on.

Hey everybody! I ran across this thread that seems to have been revisited from 2006. I appreciate everyone offering up suggestions on egg carving. I still have an interest and am glad to see that some of you have some good suggestions for material. I will be certain to check them out. Just goes to show that carvers are always willing to help eachother with learning to carve!

Blake I caught this video on Youtube the other week. It's power carving a bear out of an egg but could easily be done with a knife also I reckon. Here it is here------> YouTube - Keith Dalton's Black Bear Sample
