Default Diagram for Figaro Chain

Rickm asked if I would post a diagram of a simple chain for caving so i picked this one called a figaro. It has three small links separated by a larger one. The measurements larger than i would use but you could change them to any size. I carved a quick example [its half the size as measurements in diagram] to show how it looks when all the links are separated.
Happy carving

Beautifully explained! Trying to tell someone how a chain is carved can be a very difficult process since so much of the project is done in those first band saw cuts. Your diagram truly is worth a thousand words.

Thanks for the diagram Richard...very clear and well explained! How do you get the plus sign (+) shape on the ends? Do you use a saw of any kind or special tools, or just a knife? Someone has asked me to carve a 30 inch long chain and I don't know the best way to achieve the plus sign (+) layout.

Hiya Fly, I too would love to see how you start them out. Can't see how you could bandsaw it first. So I am guessing you just draw it on and carve away?

Your right Sean the fun is in doing it all by hand because if you used bandsaws and other power tools would you be able to call it HAND CARVED!
