Thank you Charlie for sharing this process. I have been trying to work out a method to acheive this look but have not been satisfied with the results. I will give yours a try. Thank you again for sharing. It is one of the many traits of members of this forum that makes it such a wonderful community.

Jane, do not get discurraged with your first attempt. Remember 2 important things. Do not shake the can to much and light, light, light sprays. Once you start changing the color cans you will see that it is taking shape and looks more like stone. Do not worry if your first light sprays do not cover the wood. Let dry for an hour then over spray again, and so forth. After several sprays you may want to let it dry overnight. When you spray each time leave some small areas unpainted. This will give a more lifelike look. The paint particles are a mix of acrylic and enamel and you need to let the lower coats set up sometimes. Any questions just email me.

My wife has done this on shelves and window frames - your tutorial takes it to another level. Thank you!

Here is another option. I used the same technique on a piece of Hackthorn burl. It is real nubby looking. I plan on making a sea shore layout with barnicals and dripping water. Most of the granite look will be covered but I think it may turn our OK. Will post a picture when I get it finished.
