Smile Re: Carving A Little Guy Face In The Flat Plane Style

Thank all of you for your kind comments ... I had to do it so fast .. I didnt know how it would turn out ...

As far as the way the face is done ... It can be used for any size character ..
Large or small ..

I did this guy with a frowning face .. but just turn the mouth cut upside down for a smiling face ... or add a mustache or beard or teeth ... It can be done any way ...

But i forgot one thing .. the pattern I used .. so here it is ... can be copied to any size ..

Thanks so much to all of you .... Unfortunately .. not all of us are artist like some of the wonderful carvers on this forum ... So if we can make things as simple as possible to turn out a decent figure .. let's help one another ..
That's what it's all about ..

God Bless you all ...

Gene

Thanks gene for the tutorial

helping all of us understand more better the sequence of steps in carving this little dude in the flat plane style.

Its tough to photograph and write one of these tutorials, I commend your efforts. good job!

maybe more folks will follow your lead. and share their knowledge on a project tutorial.

Its not often we get shared information free,

Carving is a ever evolving craft.
meaning the more you do the better you get, Practice makes perfect.
even a beginner could follow this tutorial, to carve. and it don't matter if the first ones perfect, lessons of tool performance are paramount for beginners and new tool owners alike.

thanks again for your time effort and tutelage

Thank you so much for the tutorial. I just started carving as as aid to shaping my intarsia. However, I have been impressed with your little guys. And I look forward to trying one, now that you have given me something I can start on. Again thank you for sharing your gift.
